At work, you don’t want to click through job portal pages so your boss doesn’t find out. And whenever an offer that meets your criteria is published, you’ll be the first to know about it by email. 2. Trust your good acquaintances

The people closest to you know you and your career ambitions best. Therefore, they will be able to recommend jobs that you might be really interested in and that you are suitable for with your experience. It doesn’t matter if they tell you about a job with coffee or recommend a job offer. It is important that they can be a source of the most relevant job opportunities for you and you should let them know about your availability in the labor market. But make sure you only share your plans with people you can trust 100 percent. Indeed, if this information got into the wrong ears, it could do more harm than good. At the same time, warn them not to send you offers publicly (for example on your Facebook message board), but rather privately, say via Messenger.

3. Publish your resume

If you decide to actively look for a new job, you will also need an updated resume. And once you’ve prepared it, there’s nothing easier than publishing it in databases for companies looking for employees. For example, if you publish your CV, this is the ideal way for a future employer to contact you. However, for this form of passive job search to work, the information in your resume must not be more than three months old. Therefore, keep your online resume up to date, such as adding a professional-looking photo. This form of passive job search is the safest, and when the boss hits you, you simply explain to him that you are just monitoring the labor market.

4. Contact your employer in person

Although the age of information technology prevails, companies that are actively looking for new people are still aware of the importance of personal contact. And I don’t mean that you march to the reception without notice and apply for a job urgently. Many companies regularly give job seekers the opportunity to meet in person – for example during company open days or job fairs. In addition, the added value of the job fair is that in one day of the holiday that you invest in its visit, you can apply for work in dozens of companies at once and, in the case of mutual sympathies, also have an interview.

5. Indicate the possibility of collaboration

Build your reputation online if your profession allows it. For example, create your own presentation website where you can publish a portfolio of your projects because there is a high probability that someone will like your work and offer you cooperation. But even if you work in an industry where a personal website doesn’t make sense, use some handy techniques to look for work on social networks and the Internet. You don’t have to write in your profile that you are “Open to new opportunities”, because your current boss probably wouldn’t breathe it. However, stay active in your professional community and a job offer can come without you applying for it yourself.
